Kai Richie is an alternative artist, actor and model from East London with St Lucian and Jamaican heritage. Known for blending alternative hip hop with experimental underground sound, his music moves fluidly across genres while remaining rooted in the cultural influences of his upbringing.
Music runs deep in his family. His father, CassellTheBeatmaker, has produced for artists such as Akala and Plan B, while his cousin 808Melo is widely recognised as a pioneer of New York drill, having worked with major names including Pop Smoke, 50 Cent, Travis Scott and Fivio Foreign.
Growing up surrounded by music, Kai Richie was exposed to a wide range of sounds at home, from reggae and lovers rock to garage and house. These influences continue to shape his evolving sound as he experiments with alternative and genre-blending styles.
Earlier in his career, Kai Richie was part of the duo Kailo, formed through the ITM programme. Together, they created and released their collaborative project The Kailo Archive, marking an important step in his artistic journey and introducing his work to emerging underground scenes.
He is also part of the creative collective HRTZ Network, a platform bringing together emerging artists, producers and creatives to collaborate, develop new ideas and push forward independent music and culture.
Alongside his music and acting, Kai Richie has also built a presence in fashion, modelling for brands and publications including God Skateboarding, Delete Ventures, Culture Club, Nahal Ashrafi and Noctis Magazine, among others.
As a solo artist, Kai Richie has continued to expand his catalogue and collaborate with artists including KarimThaPeasant, Liam Bailey and underground rapper Benty, among others. Kai Richie is also an actor at DMA, bringing a strong sense of presence and storytelling into his creative world.
With new projects, collaborations and performances on the horizon, Kai Richie continues to build his identity as a multi-disciplinary artist.
